Yoga

My yoga classes are for all levels of practice, and they vary from gentle to dynamic, focusing on breath, alignment, and strength while bringing a mix of styles together. I believe yoga can embody strength, gentleness, dynamism, stillness, and fun.
As a yoga instructor, I have seen my students grow and progress in their practice, with some even becoming certified teachers.
Yoga has been the best gift I have given myself. — I love sharing with anyone looking to explore the ever-learning journey of yoga!
I invite you to attend my classes at Abilene Yoga House and discover the transformative power of yoga.
A brief history
The practice of Yoga originates in ancient India; the word yoga itself derives from the Sanskrit root “Yuj,” which means “to yoke,” “to unite,” “to add,” or “to join.”
Yoga is a multidisciplinary science, very helpful in purifying the mind and body, and in gaining control over our minds and emotions.
“Asana,” a Sanskrit word meaning “seat,” refers to any physical pose in yoga practice. In asana practice, one uses the breath in combination with movement.
By focusing on our breathing, we can be present in the body and learn to listen to the subtle hints we receive, as we move from one yoga pose to the next.
Intentional breathing can help in many ways, releasing heat, letting go of resistance, being in the here and now, and allowing for clarity of mind.
There are many styles of Yoga, including Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Bheemashakti, Restorative, Yin Yoga, and more. Ranging from gentle to physically strenuous to more meditative, breath-focused styles.
